In 2020, during the first Covid lockdown, I decided to make my solo show ”The Sensemaker” publicly available on Vimeo to our – then – 5 followers.
It turned out to be a severe underestimation of the internet. ”The Sensemaker” is a 1-hour performance blending theatre and dance, and 45 minutes in, my character is asked to strip naked and does so against her will.
What I didn’t know was that this scene was exactly what some fetishists look for online – including ”embarrassed naked female” enthusiasts who enjoy watching shy and reluctant women taking off their clothes, as well fans of nude theatre who scout shows touring in their area for the sole purpose of seeing naked performers on stage.
Strangely enough, this video quickly became one of the most sought-after in these specific corners of the internet.
Years later, I’m still having to take the video down from various adult forums where it keeps on being posted without my consent, and I regularly receive strange emails from strange men, sent to my professional email address. This led me down a rabbit hole of men who, despite the millions of videos available online made by consenting adults for that very purpose, insist on masturbating to the ones featuring a performer who does not want them to.
